Victory Cottage is a well-located, dog-friendly holiday cottage in the heart of Hawkshead – ideal for families, walkers, and anyone looking for a simple, comfortable base to explore the Lake District National Park. Sleeping five across three light-filled bedrooms, it offers great value in one of the region’s most sought-after locations.
This is an easy, no-frills kind of place: clean, practical and welcoming. Downstairs, the lounge at Victory Cottage has a wood-burning stove for cosy evenings, while the kitchen includes everything you need for relaxed self-catering. There’s space to dine together, and access directly from the rear into the kitchen makes coming back from walks with muddy boots (or paws) that bit easier.
Upstairs, Victory Cottage has three bedrooms – a double, a twin with a built-in wardrobe, and a single – all simply furnished with freestanding pieces, soft throws, comfortable bedding and gentle lighting to create a calm, restful feel. Each room is light and airy, offering a relaxed space to unwind after a day exploring. All single beds are full-size and suitable for adult guests. The shared family bathroom includes a shower over the bath and heated towel rail.
Outside, the front garden at Victory Cottage is fully enclosed – ideal for guests with dogs – and there’s a bistro table and chairs where you can sit out and enjoy the village atmosphere. The cottage is right in the heart of Hawkshead, just a short stroll from the local shops, cafés and pubs, with countless walking and cycling trails nearby.
Parking is available for one car directly outside Victory Cottage, with additional parking in the nearby village car park if needed.
From peaceful woodland and lakeside walks to days out in Grizedale Forest, Windermere or Tarn Hows, Victory Cottage makes a great base for exploring the South Lakes. FIRST FLOOR
- Bedroom 1 – Double bedroom with freestanding furniture, paired soft furnishings, quality bedding, and natural light.
- Bedroom 2 – Twin room with built-in wardrobe, freestanding furniture, soft throws, and comfortable duvets.
- Bedroom 3 – Single bedroom with full-size single bed, freestanding storage, soft lighting, and a relaxed feel.
- Family bathroom with shower over bath, basin, WC, and heated towel rail.
OUTSIDE
- Fully enclosed front garden - ideal for dogs and safe for children.
- Bistro-style outdoor table and chairs in the garden for enjoying a morning coffee or quiet evening drink.
- Private parking space for 1 car directly outside Victory Cottage. Additional parking available in Hawkshead’s main village car park (approx. 3-minute walk). Charges apply.

- Up to 2 well-behaved dogs welcome.

- Log burner in the lounge – an initial supply of logs is provided, with additional supplies available in the village.
- All utilities, bed linen, and towels included.
- There is an iron and ironing board available to guests.
- No smoking or vaping inside the property.
- Due to storage limitations, we do not have a travel cot or highchair, although you are welcome to bring your own.
- Guests can arrive on any day of the week, with a minimum stay of 2 nights.

Perfect location!
This was our second stay at the cottage but the first time we had booked through Tarn & Fell Escapes Ltd. The booking process was simple and communication was fabulous from booking to arrival - we even had a call to say we could go to the property early. This was our second stay at the cottage but the first time we had booked through Tarn & Fell Escapes Ltd. The booking process was simple and communication was fabulous from booking to arrival - we even had a call to say we could go to the property early. The cottage itself is in the perfect location within walking distance of the village and has its own parking space. It is a very good size and has everything you need for your stay, including a sparkly new washing machine (it had taken me forever to figure out the one that had been there last year!). There was a lovely surprise welcome set of jam, lemon curd and chutney from a local shop when we arrived along with milk in the fridge and well stocked tea, coffee and sugar pots which was very welcome as it meant we could have a cuppa before our shopping delivery arrived, so thank you! The cottage is spacious, clean and comfortable and we have already booked again for next year!
Warm cosy cottage
What a great cottage so warm and cosy, the underfloor heating is great, stayed end of Jan and had to turn heating down it was such a warm cottage. Great location, garden enclosed so perfect for the dogs. Would definitely recommend and we will stay again. Great communication from Tarn and Fell.

A cozy cottage in a perfect location benefitting from Hawkshead's amenities. Comfortable, clean, well equipped and the welcome gift was a nice touch. Really enjoyed our stay.

Handy for everything!
The cottage itself is located in the centre of Hawkshead; only a short stroll to the amenities. It was nice and clean when we got there & there was a welcome gift waiting for us - yum! The cottage is well equipped, everything you would want for a short break, including kitchen foil for sarnies! The stove in the living...

The stove in the living room is lovely, but only just enough room to sit 5 of us comfortably on the sofas. The sofas are a bit worn, but still ok for the price of the property.
Underfloor heating was very welcome!

Wonderful few days stay at Victory Cottage in Hawkshead for our family of 5. Everything you need including little touches such as milk and lovely gift of jams. Great location and a parking space which is invaluable. Lucky to have beautiful weather so possibly bigger table and chairs in garden would be the icing on the cake. Look forward to...

Comfortable stay
The cottage had everything we needed and was clean and tidy. The kitchen was well equip and we enjoyed a few meals around the dining table. Overall a comfortable stay and perfect for bringing the dogs on holiday with us.

A beautiful cottage
We had a fantastic stay in Hawkshead with our young daughter and dog. The private and contained garden was a real bonus, especially for enjoying the sunshine in the early evening. Great location in the centre of the village and easy access to Southern Lakes. Would love to come back again!

Very pleased
We had a lovely stay at Victory Cottage. Very comfortable and so close to the village. Some amazing walks… the dogs loved it! The cottage is very well equipped. Underfloor heating was a great bonus.
