About Us

Tarn & Fell Escapes is an independent holiday letting agency that was established after years of loving The Lake District.

You might be wondering where our name came from… after Ross (our Director) spent two years living in the French Alps, he swapped skiing and snow topped mountains for open water swimming in the nearby tarns, and the beauty of the local fells. It wasn’t long before he knew this is where he wanted to create his nest. He’d found his escape.

Subsequently, Tarn & Fell Escapes launched in early 2023 – proud as punch with our three properties. Ross’ enthusiasm and love for excellent hospitality shone and we’re now pleased to share our growing and varied portfolio of self-catering accommodation.

Being an independent and local holiday letting agent, we’re able to offer a friendly, personal and tailored service to our property owners and guests alike. We have one clear goal of offering high-quality, comfortable and well cared for accommodation across the most treasured parts of The Lake District.

Meet the Team

Ross

Owner & Director

Originally from Lancashire, I spent much of my childhood in the Lake District at our family holiday home near Windermere, which sparked a long-standing love for the area and its way of life. After working my way up to Operations Manager at a successful Lake District holiday letting agency, I founded Tarn & Fell Escapes in 2023 with a passion for hospitality and a desire to create a more personal approach to holiday letting.

Today, I lead the overall direction of Tarn & Fell Escapes, overseeing the growth of the business while working closely with both property owners and guests to ensure every cottage reaches its full potential. From operations and accounts to guest experience and property standards, I remain heavily involved across all areas of the company. I’m incredibly fortunate to be supported by a hardworking and dedicated team whose care, organisation and attention to detail play a huge part in delivering the high standards and personal service that define Tarn & Fell Escapes.

Linda

Property Coordinator

Linda first fell in love with the Lake District as a child before later moving to Cumbria to work in property and holiday letting. At Tarn & Fell Escapes, she focuses on checking properties ahead of guest arrivals, carrying out health and safety inspections, reviewing cleaning standards and ensuring cottages are fully stocked and beautifully presented. With experience as a holiday cottage owner herself, Linda brings a practical eye for detail and a passion for creating welcoming, guest-ready stays.

Beth

Property Operations Coordinator

Beth oversees the day-to-day operations across the Tarn & Fell Escapes portfolio, with a particular focus on housekeeping coordination and preparing holiday homes for guest arrivals. Spending much of her time in properties across the portfolio, she helps ensure cottages are clean, well-stocked and running smoothly. Alongside her hands-on role, Beth also supports with office administration and wider business tasks, helping keep everything organised behind the scenes.

Abi

Property Coordinator

Abi oversees weekly changeovers and health and safety checks across a large private estate managed by Tarn & Fell Escapes. Working closely with our housekeepers, she ensures each property is clean, organised and fully prepared for incoming guests. Reliable, thorough, and calm under pressure, Abi plays an important role in maintaining high standards across the estate and helping every stay run smoothly from arrival to departure.

Our Favourite Things to Do in The Lake District

Fine Dining

The Lake District is densely populated with some of the country’s finest dining establishments. The Samling in Ambleside is a particular favourite of ours, though be sure to book well in advance.

The Fresh Air

There’s nothing we love more than getting out in the fresh Lakeland air; a steady walk around Rydal Water and Grasmere with a quick stop off at Grasmere Gingerbread is a day well spent for us!

Open Water Swimming

We love the invigorating feeling of open water swimming. Be it Windermere, or the slightly quieter High Dam, both are ideal for a morning wake-up swim or a relaxing evening dip.
