Tarn & Fell Escapes is an independent holiday letting agency that was established after years of loving The Lake District.

You might be wondering where our name came from… after Ross (our Director) spent two years living in the French Alps, he swapped skiing and snow topped mountains for open water swimming in the nearby tarns, and the beauty of the local fells. It wasn’t long before he knew this is where he wanted to create his nest. He’d found his escape.

Subsequently, Tarn & Fell Escapes launched in early 2023 – proud as punch with our three properties. Ross’ enthusiasm and love for excellent hospitality shone and we’re now pleased to share our growing and varied portfolio of self-catering accommodation.

Being an independent and local holiday letting agent, we’re able to offer a friendly, personal and tailored service to our property owners and guests alike. We have one clear goal of offering high-quality, comfortable and well cared for accommodation across the most treasured parts of The Lake District.

MEET THE TEAM

Ross - Owner & Director

Although originally from Lancashire, I was fortunate enough to spend most of my childhood weekends at our family holiday home near Windermere – learning what it meant to be Cumbrian and exploring everything the area has to offer. Fast forward and I’m delighted to be sharing not only our portfolio of wonderful accommodation, but my love for The Lakes too.

Following my hotel management ‘debut’ at the ripe old age of 19(!), still sticking with my excitement for hospitality, I moved to The Lake District and started working for another successful holiday letting agency. Here, I worked my way through the ranks to Operations Manager, bowing out with a love for all things holiday lets and a hankering for a go at this myself. Tarn & Fell Escapes was established in 2023 and since then we’ve grown to the company we are today.

I’m incredibly hands on and remain committed to providing the highest standard of accommodation possible. With thanks to Linda and our team of local contractors, I’m thrilled to be managing a portfolio of properties, each with its own story and personality. I focus much of my time on the ‘behind the scenes’ (and sometimes inelegant!) activities of housekeeping, sales, marketing, customer service, HR and accounts… the list goes on!

Beyond Tarn & Fell Escapes, you’ll usually find me and my partner eating our way around The Lakes or exploring other beautiful parts of the world.

I look forward to welcoming you into one of our escapes.

Linda - Property Coordinator

I first visited the Lake District at the age of 12 and immediately fell in love with the area. There followed many years of happy holidays before a change of career and a move to Cumbria beckoned.

My background is in construction and property research, but I have worked in the holiday letting business for a number of years, entering the sector in 2008 as an owner of a successful holiday cottage in the Lakes, which I continue to part-manage and maintain. I have also spent time working as a property checker, visiting and inspecting properties on busy changeover days ahead of guest arrivals.

I am currently responsible for undertaking health and safety checks and overseeing weekly changeovers on a large private estate as part of my role at Tarn & Fell Escapes. As such, I have good experience of holiday property compliance, in addition to regular property and inventory checks for quality inspections.

As a Property Coordinator with Tarn & Fell Escapes, you’ll find me driving around checking that properties are fully stocked, well maintained, clean and welcoming to ensure the perfect relaxing getaway.

I love preparing our cottage for guests and, as an owner myself, I am aware of the importance of first impressions when it comes to holiday home presentation. I am thrilled to be joining Ross at Tarn & Fell Escapes where I look forward to employing the same attention to detail across the portfolio to ensure the highest standards for guests and owners alike.

I am very fortunate to live and work in this most beautiful corner of the world, where (when I’m not checking properties!) I enjoy swimming, cycling and exploring the peace and tranquillity of the fells with our very energetic Border Collie!

Our Favourite Things to Do in The Lake District

Fine Dining

The Lake District is densely populated with some of the country’s finest dining establishments. The Samling in Ambleside is a particular favourite of ours, though be sure to book well in advance.

The Fresh Air

There’s nothing we love more than getting out in the fresh Lakeland air; a steady walk around Rydal Water and Grasmere with a quick stop off at Grasmere Gingerbread is a day well spent for us!

Open Water Swimming

We love the invigorating feeling of open water swimming. Be it Windermere, or the slightly quieter High Dam, both are ideal for a morning wake-up swim or a relaxing evening dip.
