Once a traditional Lakeland cottage, Carr Crag Cottage has recently undergone extensive renovations and now provides exquisite accommodation overlooking the splendid Great Langdale Valley. This home of pure distinction has been carefully designed to capture every glimpse of the iconic Langdale fells, while the modern interiors offer all you could need for a luxury self-catering holiday in The Lake District. Carr Crag Cottage is ideal for groups of friends or multi-generational family gatherings.

Initially welcomed into the open hallway, the bespoke kitchen is found to the right, inclusive of all mod cons needed for self-catering, while the jaw-dropping living room sits to the left. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the ever-changing views, with striking colours and bold patterns pairing perfectly. Gather the family around the large dining table or enjoy the freedom of open-plan living.

Toward the rear of the property, you’ll find a handy utility, cloakroom, and light-filled sunroom – ideal for soaking up the garden views and enjoying much-deserved time away.

Sleeping eight, the accommodation comprises four spacious bedrooms, all individually styled with bold colours and premium fittings. The ‘pièce de resistance’ at Carr Crag Cottage must be the principal suite, not least with its deep-pocketed mattress, but the luxury of waking up and remotely opening the curtains to reveal ‘THAT VIEW’. It’s staggering! Two of the bedrooms have large en-suites, and there’s an equally spacious family shower room sitting between the additional bedrooms.

Externally, Carr Crag Cottages offers private grounds for the whole family to enjoy. With a BBQ and fire pit area overlooking the fells, a (to be installed) hot tub situated at the rear of the property, and an expanse of lawns, there is simply no reason to leave this fabulous abode.

  • Airy sunroom with comfortable seating for 6 guests, DAB Pure radio, and access to the rear terrace.
  • Cloakroom with basin and WC.
  • Convenient utility room with tall American-style fridge/freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, clothes airer, sink, and ample storage for boots, coats, and other outdoor wear.

FIRST FLOOR

  • Bedroom 1 – Principal master suite with super-king bed, SMART TV with SkyQ, separate dressing room, spacious en-suite with rainfall walk-in shower, free-standing bath, basin, and WC.
  • Feature balcony with outdoor seating to enjoy the far-reaching views of the Langdale Valley.
  • Bedroom 2 – King-sized bedroom with wall-mounted TV, dressing table, generous storage, and en-suite shower room with walk-in shower, basin, and WC.
  • Bedroom 3 – Double bedroom with garden views, TV, generous storage, compact dressing table, and DAB radio.
  • Bedroom 4 –Twin bedroom with TV, storage, and compact dressing table.
  • Family Shower Room – Spacious shower room with walk-in rainfall shower, basin, and WC.

OUTSIDE

  • Wrap around gardens with stunning fell views to the front and spacious lawns to the rear.
  • BBQ and fire pit area overlooking the Great Langdale Valley – gas is provided for the BBQ but please bring logs and firelighters for the fire pit.
  • Wooden ‘picnic’ style bench seating for al fresco dining.

Need to know

  • Parking at Carr Crag Cottage is free of charge for up to 4 vehicles on the private driveway. There is 1 EV charger which you have complimentary access to.
  • Check-in from 4 pm and check-out by 10 am. A 5 pm checkout can be offered on Friday to Sunday bookings only.
  • 2 well-behaved dogs are welcome - kindly note: although the garden is dog-proof, it cannot be described as entirely ‘secure’ due to its size and formation.
  • There is underfloor heating throughout the ground floor, with a combination of radiators and underfloor heating on the second floor.
  • An initial supply of logs and kindling are provided for the log burner(s).
  • All utilities, luxury bed linens, and towels are included in the rental price.
  • A cot and highchair are available on request.
  • Gas is provided for the BBQ – please notify us immediately if the supply runs out so that we can ensure an adequate provision for all guests.
  • Carr Crag Cottage has a £300 security deposit that is pre-authorised against your card 7 days before your stay – seek further details in the booking terms and conditions.

Ambleside

Carr Crag Cottage is the ideal base for groups of walkers, cyclists, and anyone wanting to explore an iconic area of The Lake District. Set in the small village of Skelwith Bridge, you’re within short walking distance to a pub (The Skelwith Bridge Inn), a café and bakery (Chester’s by The River), and a premium gift shop. Nearby villages such as Elterwater, Ambleside, Coniston, and Hawkshead are within easy reach.

There is a bus route within proximity to Carr Crag Cottage – handy for accessing the Northern head of The Great Langdale Valley or ideal as a connection to explore many other fabulous areas. Renowned Michelin-starred restaurants such as The Old Stamp House & The Samling (Ambleside), and The Forest Side (Grasmere) are all within an 8-mile radius of the property, making this the ideal location for the foodies amongst us.
