Heather Mere Cottage is a stylish holiday cottage, offering elegant accommodation and a real slice of luxury in the beating heart of popular Bowness-on-Windermere. The plush decors have been carefully considered and every effort has been made to ensure your stay in this sophisticated home is one to remember.
Entering through the neat courtyard, you’ll be welcomed into the custom built dining kitchen, featuring an excellent range of Neff appliances and the modern day conveniences of a Quooker boiling water tap and Nespresso coffee machine. A circular dining table sits opposite the kitchen, offering comfortable seating for four. It’s the ideal place to embrace the well equipped kitchen, or perfect for an evening of board games.
Beyond the kitchen but still within the airy and spacious open plan living area, you’ll the find the equally opulent lounge – home to the feature log burning stove and deep cushioned sofas. Whether you’ve had a day exploring the nearby fells, or spent the afternoon mooching around the shops, this space is the perfect place to relax and unwind.
Upstairs, there’s a king-sized bedroom (that can be a twin) and a second double bedroom, both tastefully decorated with TV’s and offering what might be described as hotel-like accommodation. The star of the show must be the bathroom. A walk in rainfall shower sits to your left, while the striking roll top bath immediately draws your attention. Not only can you enjoy some ‘me time’ in this tranquil haven, but the built in TV also means you can catch up on your favourite soaps in peace!
To the rear of the property you’ll find a well-kept elevated patio, ideal for a morning cuppa or an evening tipple. Despite this property being just minutes from the popular World of Beatrix Potter attraction and the famous lake, Windermere, Heather Mere Cottage feels private and secluded.

FIRST FLOOR
- Sumptuous master king-sized bedroom with 500-thread count linens, wall mounted TV and ample storage. This bedroom can also be made into a twin bed on request.
- Second double bedroom with 500-thread count linens, wall mounted TV and ample storage.
- Large bathroom with feature free-standing bath and wall integrated TV, spacious walk-in rainfall shower and separate handheld shower, large basin and WC.
Need to know
- Parking at Heather Mere is on road for one vehicle on the surrounding streets, and by way of permit – this will be provided on arrival. There are additional car parks in close proximity to the property and parking passes for 3 or 7 days can be purchased locally at additional expense.
- 1 well-behaved dog is welcome.
- Minimum 3 night stay, but any day check-in is welcome.
- There is gas central heating throughout.
- A cot, highchair and milk sterilisers are available on request, but unfortunately, we cannot provide a stair gate.
- The kitchen has an induction hob – anyone with a pacemaker is advised to take caution and seek professional medical advice.

The hosts went above and beyond with thoughtful touches that made a big difference, like milk and chocolate in the fridge, plus sweets, coffee, and tea all provided. They even included books for our little one, which was such a lovely gesture.
One of the highlights for us was the TV in the bath—our toddler absolutely loved it! It made bath time so much fun and really added to the experience.
We also really appreciated that it’s dog-friendly, complete with a welcome pack for our pup, which made us feel so welcome as a family.
The location is perfect too—just a short 5-minute walk to the lake and surrounded by plenty of great restaurants.
We would 100% stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and thoughtful staycation.

Birthday Weekend Break
Lovely clean comfortable cottage had everything you need. It is in a great location for getting to Bowness or Windermere. The only issue we had was the parking but we managed to park up Biskey Howe Road so not too far away.

The toiletries in the bathroom were excellent.
It is a short 5 minute walk down into Bowness and its water front which is stunning and provides lots of great eateries for anything from breakfast to dinner. You should try the local ice cream!

Excellent cottage, perfect family holiday!

There was information booklets everywhere giving clear detailed instructions on everything you needed to know. The location was perfect, walked to the end of the street and you had already hit the road to the village. The bath was one of the main things that stood out to us in when booking an it did not disappoint. Thank you so much, you really made helped our first visit to The Lake District one to remember!

The cottage was very clean and updated beautifully- everything you could possibly need including coffee and tea, an instruction book for all the appliances and amenities, and plush towels- great for after soaking in the large tub! Be careful with steps and stairs as they are narrow and slippery outside when wet. We loved this little cottage for our stay and you get a parking pass if you have a car. Check in and out was great and the host is very responsive and friendly! We loved having the washer and dryer combo outside as well- great for mid trip laundry and they provided laundry detergent pods which was awesome!! Thank you for hosting us!!

Bowness-on-Windermere, unsurprisingly, sits on the shores of the world famous lake, Windermere. It's a haven for those who love visiting the Lake District to enjoy it's splendid scenery, while also embracing everything the twin towns of Windermere and Bowness have to offer. From local shops, popular restaurants and water-bourne activities on the lake, Bowness-on-Windermere is better know as the heart of the lakes. We can see why.
