Tucked away in peaceful countryside yet perfectly placed for exploring Coniston Water, Windermere, and Grizedale, Low Longmire Cottage captures the essence of a true Lake District holiday home. Detached, private and surrounded by open fields and woodland, it offers a rare blend of tranquil seclusion and easy access to the region’s lakes, fells, forests and villages. Step outside and you're moments from the Hay Bridge and Rusland Moss Nature Reserves, while two idyllic country pubs lie within a scenic mile’s walk — one a friendly local favourite, the other also renowned for its excellent food.

Inside, Low Longmire Cottage exudes warmth and character. The country kitchen-diner is fully equipped for relaxed self-catering, featuring painted cabinetry, an induction range cooker and an antique dining table for memorable meals. A small step leads down to the vaulted living room, where high ceilings, triple-aspect windows and a wood-burning stove create a space that feels both bright and deeply cosy — perfect for unwinding after a day on the fells.

Upstairs are two elegant double bedrooms decorated in calm, natural tones, each offering restful countryside views. Two separate bathrooms — one with a bath and one with a walk-in shower — add convenience and flexibility, making the cottage ideal for couples, small families or friends sharing. Guests often remark on the peaceful atmosphere and thoughtful touches that make Low Longmire Cottage instantly welcoming.

Outside, the partially enclosed rambling garden is a delightful spot to sit and take in the view, surrounded by birdsong, mature trees and open farmland. Wonderfully private and perfect for dogs, it’s a place where you can truly slow down, enjoy the clear night skies filled with amazing stars, and reconnect with nature. Low Longmire Cottage offers the perfect balance of comfort, charm and tranquillity — a genuine rural retreat in the heart of the southern Lake District.
