Surrounded by woodland, wildlife, and unspoilt Lakeland scenery, this is the kind of place guests return to time and time again.

This quintessential Lake District holiday cottage perfectly captures the magic of an olde worlde Lakeland home, while offering all the modern facilities needed for a comfortable stay. Inside, slate flag floors run throughout the ground floor, complemented by original beamed ceilings and a striking rock-faced lounge, creating a warm and characterful space to unwind.

At the heart of the cottage is the beautifully unique living room, complete with a log-burning stove, original spiral staircase, and cosy seating for the whole family. It’s a space made for slow evenings after days spent exploring Coniston Water and the surrounding fells.

The modern, well-equipped dining kitchen brings a contemporary touch, while two inviting bedrooms and a family shower room make Potter’s Wheel ideal for couples, small families, or those seeking a dog-friendly escape in the Lake District.

But what truly sets this cottage apart is its exceptional lakeside setting. Step outside, wander through your private woodland, and within moments you’ll reach the tranquil shores of Coniston Water. Whether it’s open water swimming, paddleboarding, canoeing, kayaking, or fishing from the private beach area, this is a setting designed for those who love the outdoors. With walks from the doorstep, peaceful surroundings, and direct lake access, Potter’s Wheel offers something increasingly rare – a true Lake District haven where nature, comfort, and character come together effortlessly.

Comfortable property that suited us well.
Christopher | June 2026
Clean, comfortable and warm. Very useful folder of information, intelligently written. Plus appliance manuals for cooker, dishwasher etc. There were just the two of us - which meant we did not need to use the spiral staircase. Kitchen well equipped with good quality utensils.
Lovely cosy lakeside cottage

Generally a charming, pretty, comfortable little cottage. Was almost perfect for what we needed. If being picky: we couldnt get terrestrial TV channels (may say more about us) to work underfloor heating difficult to programme and didnt seem to work downstairs bedroom lake facing blind is too small and lets in light. needs to be larger. probably needs another lavatory...
Great location

Lovely property in a fantastic location. Access to the Lake was brilliant. Accomodation was really clean and facilities were all of a really good quality. We would definitely return and recommend.

From the young deer passing through the surrounding woodland, to the tranquil views over the lake, this was another lovely stay at Potter's Wheel. The upgrades to the cottage have offered additional quality to what was already on offer in terms of location and character. The walk in shower is a great addition, and the kitchen has everything you need....

This is a lovely cottage with a path direct to Coniston Water with a small beach, and a grassy area for relaxing. It is very tranquil. Some of he grounds are wooded. There is a little piece of ground behind the cottage with barbecue and picnic table. However, because the weather was so good we were out walking most of...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It was easy to find with the travel instructions we received . The cottage was well equipped and cosy, perfect for all our needs. Being so close to Coniston water made the stay all the more enjoyable. We spent alot of time kayaking and paddle boarding from the bottom of the garden....

We had a wonderful week at Potter's Wheel - if you paddleboard or kayak, the location is superb as Coniston Water is minutes from the front door. The 2 bedrooms are lovely and the kitchen is very well equipped. We loved it and will come back!
Great place to stay.

Quirky little cottage with everything we wanted and a lot more besides in a secluded location with a private beach. Our well behaved dog was immediately at home in her new surroundings There was ample parking. The wifi code needs to be read very carefully as it's not as obvious as it appears first glance.
Loved our stay at the PotterÂ’s Wheel. The lake at the bottom of the Garden.!

Loved how close to the lake it was. It’s one of the cleanest we have stayed in, attention to detail and everything we needed was provided. Communication before our stay was excellent, check in was easy, Ross kindly called to say we could check in early. Great location for someone who wants a quiet relaxing time away and easy access...
